Can anyone recommend a good vet in the Guern/Melrand/Pontivy area. We always used to go to an excellent vet in Guemene, who was Belgian but spoke excellent English, but he has now retired. Would prefer to have one that did speak some English as it is much easier to explain what is wrong with an animal.
Many thanks.

Probably a bit too far but consider Vetinaire - Patrick Bourgeon in Merdrignac.
Hes very good speaks good English and is reasonably priced (for France!)
Patrick tends to deal with large animals and his partner, Crystel, deals with pets. She is a really caring person and her Engish is excellent.
I once took an abandoned baby magpie to Patrick which i couldn't look after (as i had 5 cats).
He took it home and managed to get it adopted by some other magpies in his own garden.

We also took our pets to dr devorst in guemene, and saw the vet who has taken over the practice last time we went. Not sure if he speaks english, although most have a good grounding in it due to their studies. he seemed good, our other two dogs vacs are due in a month, will take them and see how he is with them.

I saw the new vet in Guemene when Rosie decided to have an argument with a snake and he spoke English, I have also used the vets in Le Faouet where the 2 lady vets speak English

Thanks everyone for your replies. We went to the vet in Guemene yesterday and saw a young lady vet. She spoke and understood English and seemed ok although she did seem a little nervous when she picked up the cat until we told her that it wouldn't scratch. I suppose it is a matter of getting used to someone else after Jean-Claude de Vorst who was a real character and a superb vet. We have five cats, which we have acquired during the time we have been here and going to see him was like going to see an old friend. As both Bunty and pachypach have both seen men there I wonder how many vets are based there or whether they are going to keep changing.
