Britchicks post about Fada reminded me of Maggie, but in a different way... In July of last year (2013) Maggie turned up at Mandys small-holding, she'd lived her life chained up, Maggie that is - not Mandy - by the look of her neck - and on concrete.... By no means is Maggie a little doggie - she is like a shetland pony - with a heart of gold Mandy gave her shelter and began the task of finding the owners. Day 1 a putrid smell coming from Maggie was noticed, on investigation the smell was her flesh rotting around her neck (chain damage), promptly down to the vets and when shaved literally thousands of maggots were wriggling in and out of holes in her skin (hence her name is Maggie ) Everyone thought she was lost. Maggie pulled through, she is a gentle giant, and here she is literally 12 months on with her new friends and in her new forever home. She won't live indoors in comfort, she prefers the house next door which is being renovated. The photographs below are the most gentle ones, I wouldn't show the others to you. So, if you feel strongly do something if you see something happening like this, but take caution when doing so. I see so many things on Facebook about 'stop this and stop that' 'share this because' etc but in my view actually doing something works a tad better. Well done Maggie, Mandy and team x

She looks such a gentle giant and thank goodness she found her way to Mandy's home.It is beyond me how terribly cruel,or to be kind ,thoughtless, people can be.I read recently of a dog needing rescuing,I think in Cyprus, before that could happen she died. The stupid owners put water out of reach and the dog strangled itself in a desperate attempt to reach the water (it was chained). I can't imagine how anyone could be so stupid. It's wonderful to see maggie looking so well and happy.
