Quick question for you techies please.
Re Laptop mains connection
The cable to the plug - that which goes directly into the side of my laptop from the mains transformer - is coming adrift and giving interrupted connecions.
I've stuck elecrical tape round it but it is not helping.
My battery does not work (another story) so I rely on the mains.
The qustion is - is this cable just a couple of wires - like a domestic plug that I can cut off and refit into the plug..... or is it hundreds of little wires .....which will flummox me?
Don't want to touch it unless I can do it myself and will feel pretty stupid if I take it to the computer shop for just a couple of wires
Thanx

Basically, if it is the lead from the transformer to the laptop it is just two wires.......however, if it is the little 90 degree chrome plug that goes intothe laptop you are talking about you can't cut it off and fit another one really.
Best bet would be a budget generic power supply with the correct fitting plug. though you might want to check it's not the socket in the laptop that's loose, because that is a bigger problem. What make of laptop is it?

Thanks Pete - I'm talking about the little round black one that is actually pushed into the side of the computer (and the other end is the transformer - which is ok)
The computer socket is fine.

Oh yes its a Dell (rude words and expletives!!!)
Not sure what you mean about the 90 degree - I have a differnt laptop with a 90 degree but this one is straight so am not sure which you are refering to.

Just buy a new plug (check size) and solder it on, pos is normally the centre hole part, neg the exposed outer.

Thanks Pandj - if it has to be soldered it will have to go to the shop.
