I receive two small pensions from the UK, one monthly and one four weekly. both have suddenly started incurring charges of 15.33€ from my bank. it would appear that there is a new EU directive which allows banks to charge for transfers made which do not use the IBAN system.
My bank gave me a paper called Releve D'identite Bancaire-IBAN which I have to send to my pension provider to ensure I avoid charges in the future. They also refunded the last two charges.
I suggest you all check your pension payments for the next couple of months and look for any unexpected charges. I know from my pension providers that this is not an isolated incident but doesn't affect everyone, The instances I have heard of seem to all involve Western Union transfers but I don't know it is restricted to them.
