I was a late starter as far as computers and such are concerned, but now I love them and all things gadgety. I've got an iPad, iPhone, a lap top and a Kindle ,all of which are past the novelty stage, so what now what? There must be something out there that is the new must have toy. Any thoughts forum folk?

I don't have any suggestions for what next, but I also love my iPhone, kindle and laptop - and I am very jealous of your iPad!! Don't know how I ever managed without the new tech I have got, though! Although, my step son in law adores his kindle fire

I'm bumping this up, incase someone has a suggestion. There was an article about a "proposed" iWatch, with artists' impressions of the "maybe" item.Looked interesting.

BC, for me its going to be tiny robots. My daughter has her students build robots to teach them programming and how to write 'tight' code. I try to visit her when its student holidays and i can play with them.
Can buy bits to make your own ......... your own electronic pet ........ not great to cuddle though.
Apple have just employed a guy who has been involved in medical machines that measure vital signs and tests 0f well being. He is on the iWatch team.
Still waiting for wearable computing at an affordable price.

I love tek - but now I'm loving using it in different ways. For example, my adorable android phone gets plugged into the car and into the sound system at Ruce with my fav music on. I've been downloading filums to the windows lappy and playing on the TV through HDMI and surround sound sys - there is so much we can do with the tek and I reckon we all only touch the surface.

I agree with Ali, there are now so many ways to utilise what we have at hand.
The iPhone, like many android phones, is more of a mini-computer than a phone. The iPod is the same as the iPhone without the phone function. I keep an iPod just for music and it links to my bose speakers, both car radios, TV sound system, panasonic music centre, all via blue tooth and no wires. Using in the cars is easy 'cos the menus in the apple kit is shown on the screen and using the steering wheel buttons makes it all 'hands free'. Using apple products makes life easier 'cos whatever I have on the phone iPod, iPads, macbook pro laptop, and air is automatically synched when the get 'sight' of each other bluetooth or home wi fi network.
Ali, you still got the panasonic tv? I bought a used apple tv box for £30 and plugged that into one of the hdmi slots so I can stream from all my apple things without a direct connection. Run internet on the screen too. Don't need the panasonic wifi dongle now so selling that offset the cost of the tiny apple box. The newer samsung tv has it all built in so runs internet , tv catch up from within itself. Almost makes other stuff redundant 'cos with remote key board soes email etc .... but not really portable.
Regards the expense of having a Mac. One time I would have said yep they are too dear, but not now. I spent years using ibm mini mainframes, and all variants of PC because that's how I made my living so was very microsoft orientated.
About 5 years ago I bought a macbook pro, the cheapest 13 inch for £900. I then 'wrote' it off to replace in 2 years time. I am still using it. The operating system has gone through 5 updates from leopard all the way to mavericks. The total cost to me for these new systems, £16. The machine still performs perfectly and I am loathe to ditch it even though I have a more modern air. Checked the log the other day and found that it had run for over a year without being switched off or rebooted. I just shut the lid.
About 4 years ago I bought a top of the range HP laptop for Lady S, the full monty PC and entertainment centre HDMI etc. Cost more than the Mac, at £999.
It's now obsolete 'cos some of the bits in it are not now supported by the suppliers i.e. no Windows 8 drivers not being written. During its life I have spent a lot of money on operating systems, office updates, new battery, new hard drive. The wifi card ran out of drivers too so only connects via cat 5 cable. Too expensive to open up the box to change the card if i could get one. The Macbook Pro needed one 'repair' 'cos I corrupted the drive, Apple sorted it free of charge at 3 years old.
Now seeing as the Mac will run both Windowa 8 and of course its own operating system and swopping between them takes seconds I can see no value in buying anymore PC's.
Although there will always be a case for buying sub £300 laptops and ditching them when problems occur out of warranty.
So now we have between us a couple of large iPads, a mini iPad, iPhones iPods, Mac Pro, Mac Air. All of these sync with each other.
I do take a lot of stick of my friends 'cos I am now Apple oriented after all the years of PC.
My excuse is that the apple stuff is for 'idiots' who don't want to mess with computers just use them, and don't want to have to learn new stuff every time the operating system is changed.
