A bit late I know but the storms took me down, lots of severed black wires whipping around in broken trees meant no phone or internet. Repairs appeared to be hampered by an ongoing debate between several local landowners about who was responsible for what but after much whining, pleading & cringing on my part a very nice man came and fiddled with said wires and presto communication is restored. Soooooo Happy New Year to you all and by the way what do you do with lots of small change? Where can I change this for 'proper' money?

Happy New Year to you too.Hoping we've seen the last of the really bad weather.I keep small change in a separate purse and breadshop, newsagent.post office even supermarkets are pleased to receive it.It soon disappears.Think the banks will change it to notes.

Ah no a purse won't do. Trouble is I have about 6 years worth of 'bits'. As the eyes ability to identify small change decreased the tendency to pay with paper or large coin increased and the little coin got consigned to bottles & tins all over the place. My Bank, the CMB, don't seem to deal with money except via machines, just wondered if anyone knew where I could haul my load to. Are we in for another pasting to-morrow? High winds/rain? - well at least I'll have some ballast

Think the bank will give you plastic sleeves to deposit coin. Let me know how you get on as I have a huge jug full of french shrapnel.

Britchick I think I've understood correctly but am famous for getting myself hopelessly lost in translation. Anyway, my understanding is that I fill up all these little sleeves with the required amount of coinage, then I put all sleeves in an envelope on the front of which I fill in the break down and the total plus the account number, then I post it into their machine and it will show up in my account. The Bank supplies the envelopes as well as the plastic sleeves. Simple huh? Perhaps not.......
