Is enough really known about this process to allow "open season" in the UK? In my opinion the answer is no!
I am not against the principle but I feel there is no clear evidence either way as to whether this is a safe method of extracting gas in a highly populated country like the UK and if things go wrong the situation is irreversable.
The Government are trying to push things forward by bribing cash strapped local authorities with promises of high revenues from business rates but this is just a way of shifting responsibilities and allowing politicians to crawl back under their stones and escape being held to account if the worst happens.
Much of the investment in this operation will come from foreign companies whose government's have banned this contraversial process which means the UK takes all the risks while a large percentage of the profits will go abroad.
I think this on the face of it is a huge risk and while I don't know enough to condem it out of hand, I really feel there are too many unanswered questions to be pushing ahead at this point in time.

Just been an item on the news, wasn't really listening but I think they said council's will get £100k per well and 1% of revenue.
Quite an incentive to ignore the warnings.
