Is it just me - Why isn't B&N forum updating? Used to write a reply - post - return to latest threads and all was updated - now its not - I have to go through a whole rigmarole before the updates appear (its only happening on here) Why ? Is this happening to anyone else please?

Have you tried using a different browser - Firefox or Google Chrome instead of IE. Clear out your cookies as well and maybe run CC Cleaner if you have it. It sounds browser related rather than your computer. I have no problem here and am running Google Chrome under Linux Mint.

Thank you folks - actually i had someone 'clean up' my computer last week. The forum was ok til then so i guess the job wasn't done properly. He has put my gmail onto chrome and that no longer has multiple windows if i open another page - was fine with IE - and i don't have the foggiest what i'm doing!!! or how to put it right.
(Did I mention i hate my computer - its a dell - first one and definately the last one - and it keeps forcing me to make spelling mistkaes )

Do you mean Chrome opens another window (i.e. opens itself again to display another page) or opens another tab? Mine only opens one tab at a time, unless I right click on a link and select, 'open in new tab'......but then I'm not cursed by Windows

N I W Y A A
No idea what you are asking - lol
....But I will try. AS an example -- If i open my gmail in chrome (didn't used to before last weeks clean up) and then I open FB via my wanadoo link - the FB overrides the Gmail and I cannot come back to it - i have to either reopen it (in which case it overrides fb) or I have to close fb - can't have 2 windows like i did with IE
As for this forum - I log in go to recently updated and nothing is new - (it used to update but not now) So I then have to refresh on the http slot. This then shows me that there are updated threads. If i click on the link - say 6 word sentence - when it opens the update is not there - and I have to refresh to get it, - does any of this make sense? Shall i just take it to a computer shop for servicing?
Oh yes mouse has a mind of its own.
lead will no longer charge the battery - keep getting a message that I am not using a proper Dell lead - BUT I AM.
Dell--grrrrrrrr!

OK....I guess up to last week you were using IE only. Why can't you just log into FB without a link to Wanadoo? Have you been using a Wanadoo browser? An Orange one came with my livebox ages ago but I've never used it. In Chrome, go to the top right corner, click there and it should open 'options' or 'settings'. Check through that and see if there's anything obvious you can alter to get Chrome working as you want it.
The problem with the forum is a bit of a headscratcher. Personally, I'd try logging on with a different browser, like Firefox. However, you may not have this installed or indeed want to install it on your highly prized Dell (sarcasm intentional)
Maybe you could try updating to the latest version of Chrome, or reinstall it. You should be able to find an updated driver for your mouse too but anyway they are relatively cheap to replace. I've a cordless Logitech one and it works fine. I hope it doesn't lead to a trip to a computer shop, but if you don't feel confident about 'tinkering' maybe you should...

Thanks Pete
Right - i shall sit down at the weekend and go through those suggestions and hope for sucess.
The alternative could be a new laptop - i suspect the cost a repair shop could be throwing good money after bad
