Is everyone present and correct? 'Twas a dark and stormy night......
I was woken up by my front bedroom window blowing open at 1.30am. Managed to wedge it shut (the rain seems to have ruined the frame where the latch secures) and as I was up, came downstairs, made a cup of tea, threw another shovel of anthracite on the Rayburn and tried to stir the logburner back to life. Other than a few branches lying around this morning, there doesn't appear to be much damage.....

We lost the telephone and internet and, bizzarely, our water supply!!! However, there was a fair bit blowing in through the roof tiles so we placed cloths and/or buckets in the right places and tried to get some sleep. No permanent damage and as you can see, we have the phone lines and therefore the internet restored. We also have water coming out of the taps again - not that that worried us, who wants to drink water lol

what a day - yesterday afternoon I allowed myself to be talked into shopping at Rennes - couldn't keep the car on the road and a long lorry coming toward us had the entire top of the lorry blownoff -(not just the cab - the thing blew up into the air - fortunately the wind was blowing away from us or it would have landed on us - instead it hit the electricity lines and we were treated to pyrotechnics
Got home - in the middle of dinner we have a power cut - everything off including the electronic woodburner - no lights, heat, couldn't see to wash up, no tv - so sat here with our visitors wrapped up blankets in the candlelight. Got up this morning still no electricity and the kitchen flooded, dirty dishes from last night and a load of very large trees - ours - were in the road. Boys spent all mornind with the neighbours and some chainsaws trying to clear the road. This afternoon we went out shopping - to try to get warm - a lick and a promise due to no hot water. Got back - everyone elses elec is on - ours is not. The flood in the kitchen had got on the wires. some things back on but no lights although the sockets work - honestly you couldn't make it up.
However - loads of booze in the cupboard - the fire is back on so we are all warm although still grubby- but no one can see that in the dark.

Goodness, Bisdu, I hope you got sorted for today. I forgot to mention that the tarpaulin protecting our solar panels blew off in the storm. These have needed to be protected since October 27th when we had a 400 volt power surge through our house because a tree hit the power lines - it will be repaired soon but we've had an insurance assessment,an estimate from an electrical company etc... Yesterday we bought a nice new tarp - but it was cloudy and anyway we were too tired to put it up yesterday. So, reader, yes, the sun came out big time here today and I gripped the ladder while my husband nipped up on to the roof (he is no spring chicken, I might add) and secured the new tarp in place. Dinner was a little late today..........................

Golly ..... I feel rather guilty reading about all your problems! We have had a a very quiet, calm Christmas by comparison. Christmas eve was a little wild, but not enough to do any damage. yesterday was overcast but calm and today it has been lovely and sunny.
Do hope everyone gets their electricity, floods etc sorted quickly!!!
