Anyone else think this forum is really a lot quieter than it once was?We seem to have lost quite a lot of 'regulars' and although new members join few welcome them and encourage them to join in.A shame!

I too have noticed that this forum is going through a quiet period, many posts remaining stagnant for long periods. Personally I have stopped posting discussion points after one of my postings suddenly became the subject of an unpleasant personal attack by a certain member here. It is a shame because I always enjoyed discussing various contentious issues in a civilised and often tongue in cheek fashion.
I find no pleasure in entering a slanging match or engaging in personal insults and I always thought this forum was beyond that but sadly it only takes one to spoil it for everyone.

Oh dear , only just joined this site as a certain site I have used for a while [one that removes more posts than are left]has also got to be very quiet :-( Welcome David and don't be despondent, we have been through quiet periods before and always bounce back. I am sure some key players are busy at the moment and we are all getting caught up in Christmas thing too.

Ok no probs, not a great poster myself but like to try to help if needed with what I have learnt in the last 10 years of being a part time Frenchman.:-) Some of what I have learnt is from sites such as this.I do remember one of the first things that I needed to pick up and that was how French plumbing pipe sizes worked, a bit of a must as the house we bought had two bathrooms and neither functioned. How did they wash etc as a family of 6 lived in the house before it became of maison secondare! Perhaps I don't want to know the answer ;-)

It has gone quiet on here, hopefully it will get better. Your contributions, JohnP, are always interesting and most welcome. There will always be one person, whose choice of words are less than wise. This has always been a friendly forum, with no nastiness ,unlike some,so lt's see if we can liven it up again with a few posts and a bit of banter.

Maybe it's just because people are busy doing other things, after all it's only three weeks to Xmas. It seems just as quiet in the 'other place', even given that their new format allows members to post on any of their sites. I've noticed it leads to less responsible members 'trolling' and yes BC, there will always be one person who spoils it for the rest. Quite why people can't accept that other people have differing points of view and insist that their view is the only correct one I don't know.

Cos it makes them feel "special" :-) Very true and as has been said before, you can be who you want on the internet, why people choose to be onjectionable is beyond me.
