There is a dog (a brown and white spaniel) being kept on a very short rope (about two metres, outdoors with little or no shelter. It is never walked, petted or taken any notice of, although we do think it is being fed. The poor dog cries all day and all night. The family who 'own' him have had several dogs and all have been kept in the same way. At first there were three dogs, they disappeared and another dog was kept there. That one disappeared and now the spaniel is there. Our neighbour spoke to the mayor about it and was told that the family's work pattern doesn't allow them to take care of it and they are looking for a home for it. It doesn't make any sense to us or our neighbour. So.... I was wondering if anyone on the forum, or someone that is known to you, would like to adopt him/her? We are unable to have a dog, we have to make frequent trips back to England and none of our children are able to put us up with a dog in tow.
I have been trying to get a photograph of the dog, but as soon as it spots me on the ladder with my camera he hides.
I do hope someone out there will want him/her, we can't get close enough to it because of gardens etc in the way to give you much more information about it, and I am sorry for that.

Its heartbreaking.
We have just taken back one of our pups from some stupid-in-the-head woman who we think simply took her as a school Holiday project for her kids. From what she said (as an "expert" because she has an 'ology in animal management dontcha know, whatever old cobblers that is!), we were expecting the pup to be a raving psychopath, yet she's absolutely delightful. We think she was left alone in their flat too often with the resulting chaos.
Anyway we are now back to nine dogs again so I cannot help sadly but I do hope someone comes along for this poor little soul.

I hope so too, Mirabelle, I am really worried about what they are keeping these dogs for. I can understand (just) someone getting a dog and then realising they can't take care of it properly, but this isn't the first time they have done this. With winter coming on, I am afraid for its health, because there is nowhere for it to keep reasonable warm. The only shelter it has is a tiny outbuilding with no door, and just a mud or concrete floor to lay on.

Ours have their own cottage, albeit needing renovation! Once the pups have stopped plopping everywhere they'll come indoors with the older dogs - no chance of getting anywhere close to the Godin then!!
