Not so much shocking but a sad reflection of the selfish, disrespectful, throw away society we live in.

Well, all I can say that at least they didn't set fire to the tents etc as the French did at the end of the 24Hour Moto event at Le mans a few years ago.
For this event I suggest get the useless buggers at Oxfam down there to volunteer (and to do something to earn their overpaid salaries), collect the tents, sleeping bags etc and send them to refugees who will appreciate them.

Flipping heck !!!! Thats disgusting. BUT I see no skips around for people to dispose of things in, you'd have thought they'd provide something so that folk could donate their tents into for eg?

My view is that at least it gives a few days work to the unemployed. Ali is right in that there are no skips to put rubbish in and I wouldn't want to be taking 2-3 bags of rubbish on the train home. The tents are almost impossible to get back in their bags. £100 ish a day to get in and I would expect bins or skips for my rubbish. The fields will be as right as rain in a few days. If they were not then they wouldn't be allowed to do it again and that just aint gonna happen as so much money is generated for greedy little hands (usually of the rich). Aaah we are only young once; let them all have a good time.

In my opinion leaving a field covered in rubbish does not constitute having a good time.It is wasteful, and just downright disgusting. There were rubbish bags distributed and 20p back on plastic bottles, there is no excuse it is just laziness.Perhaps we should all chuck rubbish about to provide work for someone, unbelievable. This is our planet, the only one we have, everyone has a responsibility to take care of it.

Just designate it as a traveller camp.

Article mentioned "upmarket homes" twice. So if it was council estate it wouldn't have matered? If it was a problem the event wouldn't happen. That looks like employment opportunity to me. Resposibility lies with the organisers, when they have finished counting there cash they could give a thought to next year. I'm sure they will organise it better

There are several questions to ask. 1/ at what time after the last person left was the photo taken. If everyone has left. 2/ How long after the event does the clean up operation start, because there will be one as part of the granting of licenses for the event. 3/Why is the DM making a mountain out of a molehill. In a few days time you won't see any rubbish, will the DM be back to take photos after the clean up? very doubtful.
Shocked not at all the photo and article are out of context

Shocked not at all the photo and article are out of context The fact of the matter is festival goers left this mountain of rubbish! Nothing to do with who cleans it up and when, nothing to do with the aforementioned houses ( which are the other side of the river) nothing to do with the fact that the rubbish will be cleared. The point is the very fact that this amount of rubbish was left by human beings with brains, who hopefully wouldn't treat their homes like this. Surely some of you are disgusted by this filth?
