Well my daughter's car and home made it on the News last night if anyone saw it. Her road was a river and her car was engulfed. Her home isn't too bad; just downstairs is ruined. The whole of the road outside has been ripped up by the power of the water. Not brilliant. She is 5.5 months pregnant and I couldn't get to her last night as the flooding stopped all traffic going through to where they live. I am going to try to get through in an hour or so. I will have to find somewhere to park and climb up the road I think. Not a good day

Yep, CC. Looked bad in the vids on the net. That was a nasty flash flood. Hope you get through to her and the clean up is not too bad. Floods and the residue is heart breaking. Came back up from London yesterday and traffic had to stop a couple of times as could not see to drive through some of the torrential 'showers'. Part of my track had surface washed away.

So sorry to hear that CC. Flooding must be very distressing for anyone who watches their property destroyed. Unfortunately the situation is only going to get worse with changes in weather patterns and planners keep allowing building on flood plains. Putting in flood relief for affected areas just shifts the problem further down the line, the water has to go somewhere. Redeveloping old buildings and using brown field sites should be a priority but eventually someone will have to make the decision that Britain is full.

Do hope your daughter is ok, CC, and that nothing special has been ruined.
I always used to think how can people not be prepared for such an event until it happened to us once at a place where we were staying. Quite scary and no time to collect up anything.

Nothing has been ruined that can't be replaced eventually Judith. The car is ruined; as can be seen on every News program so far on the telly and on the internet. Carpets, kitchen units etc etc. Everything is contaminated on the ground floor. But... as I keep saying to myself; no-one has died. My daughter is really stressed out though. I spoke to one of the blokes in the yellow jackets this morning. He said that they may get the road usable in a week (It was totally ripped up) but whether they do a 'proper' job depends on who it is decided to pay for the road which is down to politics. The road is the only road that goes to the Train Station so they will have to sort it out properly.
