That was just the run Ali on the Sunday, the total number over the weekend was over 30,000 - all started I think in 1979 by the local vicar who was a biker and blessed the bikes of his congregation total 7 bikes!! It grew like topsy!!
I am agnostic but I have had my bike blessed a couple of times - insurance I feel ,I may be wrong about the existence of a God!!! The whole meeting is a great experience and the people lining the route of the run on Sunday afternoon are absolutely amazing - the French really love their bikers (unlike the English who seem to rubbish them at every occasion)

how can a priest blessing a motorbike save them from having accidents?! Its usually the other vehicle that's at fault..... think its just an excuse for a bikers meet :-)

Patchypatch how can you say that? as i said I am agnostic but believers in a God believe that he/she/it looks after them and thus they go for the blessing. I totally agree the main reason is to go on a ballade with about 30.000 mates and if you camp the evening before you may see large quantities of spirits!!! anyone needing more info look here: www.madonedesmotards.com/index.htmlThe maps are crap but you can zoom in and see this year the ballade (red line) ends near or at Josselin and obviously starts at Porcaro (near Geur) calling through loads of villages on the way - starts after lunch and finishes about tea time! expect huge traffic jams in the area!
