Does anyone know how you can download Kindle books from Amazon UK using a UK bank a/c registered to a French address? I get the impression that it's like Apple who won't let you buy from the UK site with a card registered to a French address. (although goodness knows why!!!)

If I remember rightly you just change the address settings when you are buying and then change it back after-I had to do this a few times for my sons Kindle.

Hi BC, there are still ways to 'fool' the amazon site, via proxy servers, for, etc but they are all a faff. A while ago in a kindle thread we discussed the 'licensing contracts' for ebooks being different to dead tree books. The fact that as sales grew more attention would be paid to these agreements. This covers all readers not just amazon, apple Barnes and Noble etc. You could call amazon help and (I am assuming that you also have access to a uk address as well as cards and bank account) and tell them that you spend 27 weeks in the uk and the rest in france and amend your records to show this. Removes the block on downloaded in france. There is a link here that tries to explain the difference between real and ebook sales. More customers are finding that they are losing access to the .com for ebooks and are going country specific. Sorry not got a complete answer for you. whatever.scalzi.com/2012/06/13/todays-interesting-bit-of-trivia/#comment-334883

Was going to register it in daughter's UK name and address and use her b/a,which I'll reimburse, but just wondered if there was a better way.I know I could download from Amazon France but feel there is a better, cheaper choice on the UK site. Thanks for responses.

I don't find much price difference between priced for downloads between .fr and .co.uk
The same goes for ordering real books - it is always worth checking both sites as the postage is often free from .fr and though the book will cost more often works out cheaper/quicker
