Great link Judith.
I have to say, having just returned from Blighty this morning, that I certainly had a brill time, well happy.
I found that even shopping had become a pleasure - the staff have really upped their game in terms of customer service and general helpfulness.
I did find the place packed though!!!!!

think they must have interviewed lots of immigrants(from worse countries) plus lots of the people living off the welfare state who get more money than people working for a living.

Must admit I aggree with tinkerbell, as when you are working you seem to have less money than people who are on benefit. Some of my friends are worse off than people who don't work as there benefit would be cut if they went to work.!!!!

I had a quick read and it seems to make sense. I have a friend with a 26 year old son who has never had a permanent job yet - he is always working at something but always as a temp What is making me very happy right now is looking out across my garden (I am writing this in my conservatory) and am loving the fact that all the edges are neatly strimmed. Mr LK can't do it as he has a dodgy hip, and right now I can't do it cos I hurt my shoulder about 4 weeks ago and it hasn't got any better (I have a docs appt in about an hour) This morning my neighbour was most amused to have caught me in the garden in my dressing gown and wellies - and when she saw how fed up I was she sent her hubby over with his strimmer and he has made it all look lovely

I think helping others certainly makes people feel happy. There is a half page spread in the newspaper we read on the tube entitled "Good deeds spread" and everyday folk send in their appreciation of people who have sponsored them, picked them up after a fall, handed in their i-phone or such like. Whether these kind people actually have proper paid jobs or not, or whether they are immigrants, doesn't really matter, community spirit has to start somewhere. Hope your shoulder improves soon, Elkay.
