We've already had a similar call. When I asked how they knew I was English he said our computer was registered to me and he could see we had an English operating system. The more her talked though, I became suspicious - and though I had already begun to do the things he was advising I opened another tab and googled some of the things he was saying and warnings came up saying it was a scam. He was very polite so I was also polite and said I didn't want any further help as I believed it to be a scam. He continued to be polite and pleasant but told me I was making a mistake I would regret. I continued to be polite and said it was a risk I was willing to take.
This was at least a year ago but my husband took a similar call recently so they are still 'at it' so beware.

got them every couple of months-last time I said 'you are a liar and your mother would be ashamed of you if she knew you were trying to cheat people'.Not heard from him since.

What a brilliant reply We were phoned last year and I said we dont have a computer,all was still on the other end then he said areyou sure .I said positive,not heard a thing since.  |

The way to play it is to go along with them but pretend to be dumb, take up as much of their time as possible without actually doing anything.
Whilst they are talking to you they are not scamming anyone else.

Hmmmm .... not heard of this particular scam before, so thanks for the warning. I can imagine a number of elderly people being totally freaked out and parting with a lot of money as a consequence!!
