There's a thread on AI at the moment about the water quality in France, mostly concerning nitrates etc leeching from the fields into the water which eventually comes from our taps. I know there is an analysis of the water on the bill we receive, which obviously says it's within acceptable perameters. We used to buy bottled, but decided to stop because the World is drowning in plastic waste (IMO). We drink the tap water without any problems, but I suppose they might be a way down the line. What are your views on this??

I drink tap water and it is fine. No nasty chlorine taste like you can get in the UK, and it's cold, which is great. At my brother in law's I ran and ran the tap and all I could get was luke warm cold water.

We drink it here. It never has an odd taste whilst the UK water was always suspect whichever part of the country we lived in.

We did drink the tap water when we first came over but after a couple of months noticed that the inside of the kettle had gone brown and smelled really bad. Cleaned it all out and carried on with the tap water but this kept happening so we started using bottled water.

I understand there is a small amount of nitrate in the water here. I use bottled water for drinking but I don't drink much water anyway. For tea and cooking etc, I use tap water, no undue deposits in the kettle but most of the water I drink contains between 5% & 6% alcohol and has a nice beery flavour

Google says the brown deposits on your kettle, are a normal thing and not a sign of tainted water. I would draw a line at using water which comes out of the tap looking discoloured though!

We drink the tap water but we also use a Brita filter, because ours does sometimes smell of chlorine

Love the tap water where I live.
If I get fed up with it I can pop down to the public well, really a spigot, St Anns well and fill up with as much Buxton Water as I can carry. All for free, and the same stuff that is bottled for sale.
Never had much problem with tap water in the UK, but, the water in the office we once had in Kidderminster was foul. Needed the Brita filter there.
Over the years have seen the quality of water in France improve hugely.
