Nope, never owned an Alfa. A good friend of mine worked for the Alfa Romeo franchise in Exeter for a number of years and used to have the use of company cars. He let me drive a few and another friend of mine owned one. Nice looking cars, beautifully engineered, and a nice driving experience but at the time they suffered with reliability and build quality problems which put me off. I am sure that over the years things have improved but at the time when I was buying and selling cars frequently, I was advised against owning one.

Alfas used to be rust buckets but that helped with the performance as they lost half their weight due to rust they went faster My last one was a 3.0V6 spider which was like a pocket rocket, it was a 916 2002 model with zero rust as are all the modern Alfas. My first Alfa was an old Alfasud which brain washed me as it held onto the road like nothing I had driven in the past, it failed its MOT due to its engine almost falling out due to rust but I was hooked after that. They have a nice new one out which costs 250.000k but a year old they are half that price. At the rate they are dropping three years time I will be able to buy one.
