Does anyone know (BartyB I know would) Think LNB on Sat dish has bit blown off in wind and now got no signal. We have a double LNB to fit to our dish here to replace single and want to know if the single one can replace the damaged one we have on other dish. What Im trying to say is Do LNB's fit any type of Dish or do I have to hunt around for the correct LNB for the particular dish ive got?

All the ones I've had have been interchangeable as long as the clamp that holds the old LNB will hold the new one. But Barty is the sat god and will know for certain.

When I ordered an LNB off Ebay it came with old and new type mounting's. I think the mountings changed at some time, as you say BB will know for sure. On the other hand if your handy (hammering old Citroens does not count) then you can buy a new dish complete from Bricomache for around €30 with single LNB, I recently replaced our dish when we had strong winds, I think it got hit by a flying watering can which bent the arm

as others have said, its the mount that is important. The dish focus's the collected signal onto the head of the LNB so it has to be in the right place, ie no good bodgeing it onto a fitting that its not designed for. if both LNBs are fitted by a collar type fitting then there should be no problem swapping them over. Beware dishes bought from bricomarche. I bought one, but the arm rotted away after about a year. I did manage to repair it temporally with a bit of wood. in fact the bit of wood has lasted longer than the original metal arm but again wait for an answer from the Guru Barty

flippin eck Steve, you have a phone don't you? LNBs for round dishes are slightly different to those for Sky type dishes and the current generation of Sky LNBs are a non-standard size. So.... to fit a current Sky LNB to a brico type dish you'll need to wrap 1/2 a dozen turns of insulating tape around the "neck" so it fits tightly in the collar but it will work fine. If you have a standard LNB, it won't fit in a new Sky dish collar (and won't be very good anyway. old sky dish LNBs don't fit the current dishes. So as you see it's not quite that simple but the long and the short of it is, if it fits then it should work OK. If it's a Sky dish then mail me and I'll bung an LNB with new and old fittings in the post.

Cheers Bart - venturing onto the roof today to get old one off and have a look at it - will let you know. Mind you the last time a French roofer went on to the roof the dish came away from the wall and fell on his head
