How on earth can somebody make 'that sort of mistake' ! Surely it would have taken weeks to raise that pile to the ground and nobody noticed? Mmmmm I'm with JP on this. Great link P

I am not saying this didn't happen but several things seem very strange. A building of this stature must have had some kind of listing with regard to what you can and can't do to it. You need a permit to demolish a building in France. Any company would surely want to see any permits or relevant paperwork before proceeding with a project on this scale. As Ali says, how could a building like this be demolished without anyone noticing? The local community would have been proud of a beautiful building like this, the Mairie has the power to halt any unauthorised building work so what went wrong? All very strange
