I have a problem with my electric supply, I have called the EDF English speaking helpline but they have given me another number to call which is French!
We have had the problem for months, EDF have finally accepted that we have a problem but I have the last hurdle to overcome, I cannot communicate on the phone in French.
I had considered buying a unit and changing it myself but Jean has banned me from doing that as I would have to work on LIVE electricity.
I am on a three phase system and the unit at fault is the Gardy DB90 Disjoncteur Differential Triphase.
Two phases are OK, the third is not working, power is definitely reaching the unit on all three phases but only exiting on two.
Can anybody please help me?

P - I realise this is daft question - but is the problem inside or outside of EDF remit?
Have you had an electrician in to take a French look?

Pete, don't work on it yourself. I am sure you know that you have 400 volts there between any two phases which is plenty enough to kill you.
This doesn't solve your immediate problem but do you need 3 phase? If you are not using machinery which needs 3 phase, I would ask EDF to convert you to single phase, a 9kw supply is usually enough for most households unless you have electric heating. As far as speaking on the phone in French you have my sympathy, I am the same, face to face I stand a chance, but phone, no chance. I am lucky, I have a French friend who helps me. Is there a neighbour who speaks some English who can understand the problem and phone for you or as a last resort get a local electrician to have a look and ask them to contact EDF for you, at least they should be able to communicate the problem accurately.
Good luck John

I don't understand what the consequences of the fault are but if it's something properly the responsibility of EDF then I can make a call for you.
I'd expect the contact phone number you have to be the same as that which appears on your bill as 'Depannage electricite'.
I'm around for the next couple of days if needs be. Best wishes.
