More info - www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18288710All of our PCs are on Wind 7 which has been superb. Microsoft were previewing 8 in June and its due for sale during the autumn at some point. Will be interesting to hear from the first users of the new system.

Been out a while in Beta, is a long way forward for microsoft and really does have some good features that are beneficial to the user. It is not the car crash that vista was and still is. The interface is good, much different to win7, but builds on the best of win 7. The big leap is in support for win8 on mobile devices and tablets. This may be even better than Windows for mobiles. Personally i dislike the fact that at present there are still dialects of win8 dependent on the chip set but i suppose that this does enable the manufacture of cheap tablets and lower end smart phones. I found it ok and may have it as the second operating system, replacing win7, on one of my mac books. In all a major step forward for Microsoft, said the apple user.

Troll, I still have a tower PC running XP Pro 'cos I know what I am doing.
Most of my clients are still running XP over their networks for the same reason.

I'm still running XP pro as I refused to have Vista on my 2 laptops when I bought them.
The problem with Windows is that they seem to get one good system and follow it up with a crap system like win2000, vista etc, I do wonder if Windows 8 will accept a lot of my old programs that work fine on XP. So suspect I will soldier on with present system as i suspect i will need a huge upgrade in computer to take on Win 8 'loads of money'! and then find I have to buy new programs as well.
Love computers when they work!
