There is a recall out in Leclercs today for this brand of breathalyser.
Apparently the expiry date of 2014 in some cases looks like 2011. The police have already indicated that prosecution will follow if anyone has them in their car when asked to produce one. That is when it becomes law.

Is it me being daft or will we have to have 2 in the car, one in case we`re stopped and one to be able to drive off with . Surely if, after being stopped and then we got lifted a mile down the road we wouldn`t then have one in the car...............Ooh I need to lie down in a dark room

I think this whole thing is crazy. I am in favour of anything that stops people drinking and driving but is anyone seriously suggesting that drivers are going to come out of a bar, breathalize themselves, and if they are over the limit, walk home or take a taxi? This law will have no effect whatsoever. maybe save the Gendarmes a few euro's a year in breathalizer kits although I think they all have electronic ones these days.

You`re right John, if you have no qualms about drinking & driving, then having the kit in your car won`t make you stop.

I've read somewhere that the fine (proposed) is only 11 euros for not carrying them! BE did you know that your bananas are giving off ethylene so your ripe fruit'll go off v quickly in the same bowl
