Experiment occurring in 35-land kitchen......... I sowed some HVs in pots weeks ago and made sure they hardly got any water - now either I didn't plant them or the dratted mouse ate them coz I MTied the pots today and there wasn't a bean to be seen. So, in the kitchen window I have laid some HVs onto damp kitchen towel on a plate, those that sprout get to live Did the same with Pumpkin seeds and got great results. Saves messing around planting stuff thats not going to sprout a proboscus in the first place. Anyone else do this already?

have done it with parsnips, but decided couldn't be bothered. I sow radish to "row mark" the sneeps, so it's not a wasted row anyway. Will deffo try it with curcubits in the future, as meeces ate all mine . Peas and Beans go straight into the ground under poly bottles.

Love the radish touch. Nice one. Will do that too alongside the 'sweeeeeed'
Next year am not going to grow peas. Complete waste of time. If the meeces don't eat them the pidgins or sparrers do when they leaf up.

Hi What a good idea !!,I'll try that when I get back from Caernarfon. Daughter wondered if you could grow ordinary dried peas--so I googled, very surprised you can!! you get apparently lovely pea greens to add to salads. Maybe someone here can tell me-or confirm that I saw dried peas in one of the supermarkets in Brittany, would save me lugging them from here. Have a good day

Even the very best bought peas can't compare to that "just picked taste" I've just eaten the 1st of the year. Think twas supposed to be a pea, but ate it as a mange toute. Yummy!

Usually only have to do this for sweetcorn, but have this morning done potimarron, courgette and cucumber as not a single one that I planted in pots in the cold frames germinated. Sigh. I do them in marge tubs with the lid on. Hardly got any seed left as the Lidl packets only had about 8-10 seed in.
