Anybody tried electrolysis for rust removal ?
What is washing soda called in France ?
Things to do on my new toy.
Repair small scrape on rear bumper (Nead advice from Steve) Cambelt kit Water pump Auxiliary belts Front discs and pads Rear discs, pads and shoes Paint calipers DIY water level alarm

Repair small scrape on rear bumper (Nead advice from Steve) Sounds like a grand reason for a May visit to Northern 35-land to me To replace the one that was cancelled due to unforseen humungeous weather! The Fli is happy to have a gander at rest of list at same time too Is back after May errr 20 something, maybe earlier - will PM There are aftermarket products available to cure the rust, here's one that I was very happily involved in the relaunch of: www.hammerite.co.uk/guide/kurust.jsp(available amazon and also in France) Paint on. Very interested in DIY water level alarm !

Hi Ali.
Rover 75 1.8 are prone to head gasket failure due to coolant loss (small capacity so small leak means big problem), coolant level kits are available for around £70, BUT, I have an idea how to put one together for around £15, I will post picies when I experiment.

When I used to mess about renovating old motors, I always used Phosphoric acid for rust removal. Can be got as a liquid or as a gel (useful for surfaces that liquid would drain off).
It turns the iron oxide into ferric phosphate which wire brushes off leaving a good clean metal finish.
My mate believed that positive earth wiring systems accelerated rusting in motors so he always fitted sacrificial anodes to the sills.
ps I have never tried electrolysis, but my brother in law, who restored motorbikes, had a big plastic tank that he 'cleaned his iron bits in. He always said that doing it this way converted some of the ferric oxide back to iron, but I have no proof of this.

Bugger, I have one of those intelligent battery chargers which analyze the battery before charging, no battery = no current.
Anybody got a PC power supply they don't want ?
