Chaos in our house, he is charging around with his enormous hood, we are covered in bruises and he has already broken one vase. He kept me awake most of the night.

Poor chap, My little dog just had a small operation which necessitated him wearing one of those for a few days. They don't understand the reason for them having this awkward thing stuck on their head and life is quite difficult for all concerned. And when you take it off he is going to find out that someone has stolen his dangleys.

Yes they told me that, but it depends on the dog, I took mine off much earlier than that(after 4 days) and kept a close eye on him to make sure he didn't bite himself or do anything to damage the stitches. I always put it back on at night or if I left him on his own.

I reckon you could chop that thing down a good chunk, unless it has to go back to the vets,if it was just a bit past his nose he wouldn´t be able to get to his stitches,it is rather large, poor dog and poor you.

Oh poor Sam and poor you both.
I'm with all above comments, that funnel is way too long, half the size would do it. Could you vet supply another one or as BC says if you are keeping the funnel or pay the vet for it - chop it down.
At 10 days it will be time for the stitches to come out. When brown dog had his bits removed I only kept the funnel on for a day and watched over him for signs of stitch nibbling; I'd expected him to be v naughty but he wasn't.

I can't imagine the vet wanting the hood back, it is already damaged on the edge.

If you look on your invoice, there is probably a charge for collier carcan. Monty's was just over 2€

I was about to say - that's ENORMOUS. Way bigger than necessary, surely? Poor doggy.
