Whilst we appear to have no wall in our bathroom I'm wondering if it is possible to connect up a heated towel rail without having to run the cabling back to the main leccy box??
Can we just use spur/junction box thingy without a sep fuse in the mains box?
Can anyone advise please?

Check to see what the power rating is on the heated towel rail. That will tell you.

I suppose reading the box it comes in would be a good idea We have them in the other house but can't for the life of me remember whether they were wired back to the board.

No idea about the legalities but as it's electric and in the bathroom mine goes back to an RCD on the board and despite being double insulated it has an earth strap on it.

Are you talking about the French style which is a proper radiator or just a heated towel rack English style? I've had a couple of French ones (both ch and dual ch/electric) and I know for sure they need an earth. Dunno about the other questions.

Hi Ali message from Mr Simson heated towel rail of 400 w wired through a socket and NOT a lighting circuit is ok just ensure the power circuit has relevant protection on it, ie disjoncteur differnetial and make sure it works by pressing the test button or buy a plug in tester to check it. Don't use a power socket to connect the towel rail use a sortie de cable box

400w seems very low - all my electric heaters are kilowatts or more.
