A good move. Yup - ditto. Price of bought eggs'll go up no doubt but thats one bit of inflation thats worth it in my view.

I can see problems with this, first enforcing it, second if it is as many farms as it makes out there will be a problem with supply and demand forcing up prices not only of eggs but things made with eggs(lots of things have eggs in them including vacinations......). Third what is in place to stop cheap imports of battery eggs???

All eggs for sale have a number on the box which tells you how they were produced, barn, battery etc,I used to buy the ones that are sold loose in the supermarkets ,under the impression they were free range, but after checking the number realise they are not.

The price of free range or organic eggs shouldn't change. If anyone is going to complain about the price of eggs going up from caged hens then tough cos you shouldn't be buying them in the first place! ;D

I was not talking just about eggs going up most of us have a tight budget and if you consider what eggs go into you will find that it will effect your shopping bill rather a lot, then add in the increase in the cost of transportation and the new taxes.......... The price of free range eggs may well go up due to supply and demand also just because it is organic does not mean it is not battery, organic does not in any way mean free range.........
The change over should have been sorted out a long time back with checks but I have a feeling it won't have so to start a lot of problems. I don't agree with caged hens, preffer to buy barn eggs at least but when you buy things at the super market that have egg in it will 9/10 be caged due to cost.

Trying to think what has eggs in at the supermarket,I suppose cakes and biscuits, pasta, must be loads of other things.Easy enough to stop buying the cakes and things and I donĀ“t think all pasta has them in,what else I wonder??
