Blimey, thank goodness it's not - I still have some use for mine!
Actually this story is a little close to home - my ex's father had the same operation done to him (later proved to be both unnecessary and incompetently carried out)..He died, aged 52, from complications afterwards. The only way the family were able to find out the truth about everything, and as lifelong socialists they were loathe to do so, was to sue the NHS who consistently lost medical records etc. - which took years and did not help the grieving process.

I read about this this morning as well. Feel sorry for the guy as he was not given the choice - it's all very well some people saying it's take it off or die - but everyone has the choice to decide what they want re their life/health/illness.
