Arrgh - been fiddling in the registry of my clapped out pc as advised by someone after googling the problem I was having with my puter not recognising the CD/DVD drive. They said to remove upper and lower filters .... I did this and I also removed a couple of other filters that I saw so I think I have caused mayhem. Now when I start up - my keyboard and mouse are dead and so I cant insert my password and so I cant stand the puter at all. Am using my dads puter to post this! HELP PLEASE as I need to get on mine to work tomorrow. TT

desry deary dear. I've no idea if this will work but it's worth a go.
(this was checked through on an XP machine but Vista/win7 is similar)
start the 'puter in safe mode, turn off the computer, then turn it back on again holding down the F8 key this should bring you a menu that has several options for the start. Choose "start in safe mode" then hopefully your keyboard and mose will be working. Then go to the start menu, choose "accessories" then "System restore" and choose "restore my computer to an earlier tme" and choose a restore point a couple of days ago
If that doesn't work stick your operating system CD in the slot and restart the system then choose "repair an existing installation"
Good luck
