Sticky spiced pork ribs
Countrywise Kitchen - ITV
Ingredients
1 large piece of fresh root ginger 6 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed or grated 150ml dark soy sauce 75ml maple syrup 150ml hoisin sauce 1 tsp five-spice powder Juice of 2 limes 2 racks of pork ribs, each weighing about 1.3kg Freshly ground black pepper Method
1. Start by grating a couple of thumb-sized pieces of ginger into a bowl. Add the garlic, soy sauce, maple syrup, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder and, finally, the lime juice and black pepper. Mix well.
2. Place the ribs in a deep oven tray. Take two-thirds of the marinade and pour it over the ribs and rub in well. Cover and leave to marinate for at least four hours.
3. Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas 4. Place the tray with the ribs in the oven and cook for 45 minutes until done. To serve
When you are ready to serve, transfer the ribs to the barbecue and brush with the remaining marinade to form a glaze. (If you don't wish to use the barbecue, turn your oven up to maximum for the last 10 minutes.)
Use a knife, or cleaver, to cut the ribs into individual pieces. Pile up in a bowl and attack with sticky fingers, and lots of cold beer.

I have loads of pork ribs in the freezer and no bbq weather in sight - I usually just brush tesco's smoked bbq sauce (3 years out of date ;D) over them. This sounds nice but I don't have all the ingredients.

Ali I bought my ribs from Super U - only about 5 ribs in a rack and there's 2 in each pack, but that's enough for two people plus salad when we have a BBQ. If it feeds the Terminator, then there's enough meat on those ribs!

I do a similar ribs dish - but always found it better to separate them BEFORE marinading

For MM. I posted just after the prog had finished on July 18th so whatever day that was its on that day and what ever time I posted it had finished by then ;D ;D and on account of I have said ITV there may be a big cue as to the channel is it on on whatever day July 18th was........ And Not only that I have just looked it up on Google and here is a link: www.itv.com/lifestyle/countrywise/countrywisekitchen/and it says Monday at 8pm UK time, which means 21hrs00 to us on ITV1. I like to buy 'raw ribs' so that I can do the mariniatingy stuff, not the pre-packed ribs - the raw ones at the mo are a little under-fed.........

I've never seen it on the what's on the telly thingy but that'll be because all I see is the word Countrywise and assume it is that programme! It would not occur to me (the next day, and being totally oblivious to this programme) that you only posted the recipes because you had just seen them on the telly, as I post recipes at any time just because I do/can

And I was talking about raw ribs! (never heard of not raw ones)The ones we buy are exactly the same as the ones we've bought or eaten anywhere in the world, including in rib restaurants.
