I am going to Manchester soon to buy a left and right floor pan to fit to my beloved Acadiane. Does anybody know especially Lib) if it is possible to fit outer left and right floor pans to this with body still on. I know if it was a rolling chassis it would be a lot easier but dont want all that work and want to bolt and weld with van complete as it is.
I appreciat that I will get hundreds of reply's to this as you all are experts with Acadians so I await your expertise.

The floor panels can be welded in situ.
You weld only 3 sides, front bulkhead pan, rear upstand, and the tubular cill. Do not cut the old panels out until you decide if you can leave an overlap to joint to or if the cill is corroded and needs a repair. Small overlaps (flitches) can be made out of mild steel to do an overlap joint. There is enough room to do this. All traces of gunge and undersealing must be removed, but you know this.
The worst potential problem is the panel to the chassis. The row of 8 mm bolts do not tap direct into the chassis. The 'nuts' are captive in the chassis lip, some models have proper caged captive nuts others have a type of slide on spire nut ie a thread in a tube slid over the lip. These seize up terribly and may be hidden by the horizontal suspension (spring box) and hydraulic shockers so do not damage them. Use lots and lots of penetrating oil on them before attempting to turn them. There is a rubber sealing strip between the chassis and floor always replace this with either a strip of rubber or a thick sealant. Hope this helps a bit.
ps watch for pipework in the chassis sides, fuel pipe is plastic in some models.

Manchester - you mean you can't find bits for it here in France?! Unfortunately Madam M not too much for Acadiane's they haven't made a new floor pan for this model but companies in UK have. where you can get them here in France are almost double the price (typical) and its also easier to talk to someone about auto technical talk in a lingo I can just about understand But Leboncoin is good for getting lots of other bits. Thanks for taking an interest though in the post MM xx

"Daft Welsh" - now need to "review" my birthday guest list. ;D
