We were sat watching TV tonight with the dogs and Fli asked me if Facebook was the same as Twitter....... errr..... ok...... well we had a brief discussion on that then we moved on.............
One hand u have all these people saying 'guard your info' and on the other hand you have 'Facebook' etc saying tell everyone your date of birth, all of your names, your schooling, where u worked and indeed tell us about all of your friends......
I'm certainly not a general Facebook user - don't feel comfortable with it, never have, I have an open Facebook thingywhatsit but it is bare minimum - my real one for family is very hidden and anyway we mainly speak by phone and face 2 face which all are part of what I would call 'proper relationships'
What are your thoughts about Facebook and similar??

Well, I am not afraid to say that I love Facebook! I have my privacy settings set so am comfortable with the info I'm "sharing" and "hide" the people and games that get on my wick. When you have a big family, it is brilliant for keeping in touch with them, as well as with far flung friends. I don't have time to ring everyone regularly and Faceache is ideal. Living abroad, it is easy to become isolated and with a few clicks, I'm back in the bosom of my family. I've worked in a bank at quite a high level and, quite frankly, I'm more concerned with the cavalier way THEY treat customer data than Facebook. At least you have a modicum of control over the info you share on social networks. Your bank knows everything about you - and that data is far more useful to a fraudster than where you went to school. Also, was watching a programme about the upheaval in the Arab states at the moment - and the part played by social networks. It could be said that Facebook and Twitter have changed the world. Whether that is for the good, remains to be seen.

I agree it's a good way to keep in touch and to find friends from the distant past. I like to see how past pupils are doing, but would NEVER write anything for all to see. I use the send a personal message option. The danger is when 10 or 12 year olds are using facebook innocently or not so innocently. Things can get very out of hand. Does anyone know whether someone can tell if you are looking at his/her wall? I'd hate to be seen as a stalker.

Take a large sheet of white card--- draw faces and bodies and arms and stuff on it-- cut out the different pieces and join together in different combinations.. works for me hahah

They are both Networking tools and I use them as such. I think it is sensible to take care what you write on the Internet, Facebook, Twitter or forums.
On Facebook I try to make my settings so that some stuff is only seen by friends (Not friends of friends).
I use Twitter as a way to connect to Internet sites that I will enjoy viewing Blogs, Art, Photography & Green Issues. Twitter is a fantastic tool to do research.
Forums are something else altogether!
