MM - can report, Cantal back in stock at Lidl Rostrenen yesterday. I bought some as there was no cheddar left I always seem to miss out on the cheddar fests.

Oh goody! Will be popping down for some cheddar as I get fed up with the pre-frozen crumbly stuff too although Le Clercs in Lamballe have packs of McClelland Seriously Strong but it's not as cheap as the Lidl's cheddar.... Leclerc in Dinan sells the "Seriously cheddar" for €9.95 per kilo all year round. It is nice too. you will find it at the Deli. Rach22

Ooooh I love smoked cheddar! That price quoted at under €10 is really cheap - at Super U it's about €14 (I think) and I've even seen it up to about €17 euros! They've stopped doing the cheaper orange cheddar. Geant sell it prepackaged in 200g packs but can't remember the price. But as it's all so much more than Cantal from Lidl we don't buy cheddar normally as I'm quite happy with Cantal in my cheese and pickle sarnies. I'm glad to hear that lady is still doing OK with her cheddar as I remember when she had a launch do with music some years back but I couldn't go cos I'd broken my foot. Did have Trev and Chris offering to cart me round in a wheelbarrow but I politely (or probably impolitely!) declined that one. ;D

Must admit their cherry bakewells were really good too - much better than the non Kipling ones sold in my mum's village shop! :-)
