Stavros, Its is not a franchise!! I had help on the terms and conditions from other people who had bought and have been using the content management system for some time... I thought I had made them as user friendly as possible but will revisit just to make sure there are no other points which are not clear! Thanks again for your help Natasha www.guide2brittany.com

Natasha, there have been some very good points raised here and you have answered them extremely well.
In essence generally people like to help, especially if they have got to know you a little first. I'm guessing that you have been too busy setting up your site to network effectively as yet.
Members of BWi could provide you with excellent market research/customer research and I am sure if this thread continues you will start to build some useful relationships here.

We mustn't lose sight of the fact that this is a brand-new site, and there are many time-served sites "Guide2" that show us the potential. I scrolled down to the bottom of the home page, where there's a shedload of existing sites listed, clicked at random - Bristol - intending to spend 5 minutes, and spent 20 mins, only stopping when I got called away. If I'd seen the "Guide2" concept a few years ago... (one more for the 'if list' )

This looks an interesting site and hopefully will develop well. However I am confused-you say it isn't a franchise and yet this page www.swnewmedia.com/ tells all about Guide2 Franchises. I see nothing wrong in having a Franchise but would like to understand the difference between yours and these other sites which apparently are franchises.

Admin - Yes with 3 children under 6 and trying to set up the site on my own things have been fairly hectic! Think I have met some of your members at some AIKB events and recognise their 'mug' shots here! Stavros - yes there are several 'Guide2s' up and running succesfully... including several in France. I feel very lucky to have found something which allows me to keep my brain ticking, fits in around my 3 children and their numerous activities and also allows me to live in a part of the world I love! Think there are some areas of France uncovered if you are interested?! Sally - difference is I have just bought the content management system (think I said 'contact' earlier but I meant 'content'!) and so unlike some of the large Internet franchises about we provide 100% of the content locally here rather than it being done in some office back in the UK and distributed out for other sites to use. Downside is we don't have a massive centralised 'franchised' marketing budget... just me and what I can do from home. Luckily, I have years of marketing experience and this is an area I love and so I hope passion and hard work will pay off! I also didnt pay a fortune for it... I think that another big internet franchise over here costs from £30,000!!!! What this means is that I am not so 'blinkered' on doing nothing but sales - instead my focus is on making sure the site is useful to visitors, readers and members. Thanks again for taking the time to look Natasha www.guide2brittany.com

Hello Having spent quite a bit of time with Natasha I just wanted to say that although it might come across as someone who has just bowled in to advertise without making networking efforts first I know from first hand experience that she has been meeting herself going backwards in her efforts to network!! It just so happens that some of it has been face to face rather than virtual-when I saw the post I did expect to see some reference to the fact that it was her first post. Anyway, just wanted to offer some support, she's worked extremely hard with young children whilst frequently on her own.
Oh and although she only has 3 boys like me it sometimes feels like she has so many more!! Now she'll know who I am from that comment as I did mention it to her once!!

One thing I am not too happy about is that having given my name to join up, my name is given in full in the list of members. I would rather be known as Salamander and would not have put my real name in if I had realised it would be published.

HelloThere - hello there!
Thank you for that... I think that there is so much which goes on behind the scenes setting up a website like mine which people don't see. Looking through some of the 'mug shots' on here I am fairly sure that I have met alot if Bwi members at events and things.
I have also been working really hard at establishing relationships with some big companies which means that despite only launching a couple of days ago my online rankings are that of a much more established site and my news & features are already read and distributed to thousands by both UK and French companies. Doesnt mean much to my members at mo but this will mean that people featuring in the free business directory or who place free classifieds and events will have a wide audience out there and will get alot more exposure.
Jackie - thank you! I really wanted it to be nice and clear and easy to find things.
Salamander - You should be able to log in with a 'nickname' so if you send me a PM with your real name on it I can amend your account for you.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Natasha
