Pop the cover off of yours first and check that you can access the memory ok mate.
The blurb on your lappy says you have two slots and you will currently have 1x 256Mb or (more likely) 2x128Mb strips.
Those two slots will be stacked one on top of the other.
Wet hands and Static electricity hurts PC's so dry those hands and earth yourself before you start.
As long as you have not been shuffling round a carpeted floor or rubbing balloons in your hair before you start, static wont be a problem. ;D

Botty - have found where the memory strips go & have watched video & all seems straightforward enough. Have also ordered the new memory strips from fleabay too. Did some housekeeping & it's only got 6% memory left!! Thanks ever so for all your help, it's much appreciated!

By 6% memory left i guess you mean hard disk space.
Thats horrible and there is no way to defragment a windows hard drive with only 6%.
I think 15% is the minimum space required in order to defragment.
Burn some stuff off to DVD and delete some of that porn Jackie... you know its bad for you.

You are very welcome.

ps, make sure the hard disc (C drive) has at least 20% free space. pps, defragment C drive once a month even if windows says it does not need it.
