Just imagine how her other 2 teenage sons must feel! They could so easily have met the same fate. And freed after spending just three years in prison - where's the justice in that?

According to French media reports, both of her sons, and her husband, have stood by her throughout the previous 4 years, and she has returned to the family home.
This must give reason to ponder.
It's very difficult to comment on this one, not all of the facts have been released; an immediate reaction could have been "and throw the key away", or perhaps long-term psychiatric internment.
I'm afraid that I could lay myself open to cries of "Nazi", but I do believe that there are certain very rare circumstances that justify ovarectomy or vasectomy.
(puts on tin hat, jumps into air-raid shelter...)

It is very hard to comment on, I read about this last year, and lots on the tv etc.
I just feel very uncomfortable about the sentence, it was only a light one and so I thought she had to be a nutcase. So if she was/is a nutcase can she be OK now?...it is all a bit odd.

It's easy for us to say "nutcase", but there is lots we don't know about post-partum depression, which affects different women in different ways, and is always relatively temporary. It seems we're all agreed that this is a hard one to take a position on.
