Seems the Greek's have at last got their act together, sink the boats and let the Turks pick the invaders up then take them back to Turkey, RESULT.

I have just joined the Forum and have been reading this thread thoroughly. I am very surprised at Happygirl's apparent understanding of the term "debate" to be "denigration". What a shame. An intelligent discussion about this current problem could highlight points that could be useful and valuable.
I am a patron of the charity that offered counselling to both the survivors and bereaved of the London bombings and I know, from personal experience, the successes of the British security forces in highlighting terror cells in the UK. I'm sure you would be interested to know that the vast majority of those involved were British disaffected youth and not immigrants.
Since that time there has been a great deal of work on conquering the push to fundamentalism of those pockets of frustrated people. Until such time as a far greater result is found in creating a homogeneous society we are going to have Al Qaeda and Isil and when they are gone the next group.

"fount of knowledge" seems to be your claim to fame! "completely in the dark" you would be,being up your own jacksy ! Took you two days to dream up your reply, great debater you are.you need to climb down and smell the coffee now and again. I make no claim (nor ever have) to being a great source of knowledge. I'm just an ordinary bloke trying to see things without prejudice and hopefully presenting another point of view. True, I do research things via the internet, I'm sure most people do that nowadays. I'm sorry I disappointed you with the tardiness of my reply to your post, but disseminating it's content took some time, as I'm sure you'll understand. If you'd like to join this debate and post something sensible, I'd be pleased to reply....

If you can't even count the passing of time correctly then perhaps you need to come down off whatever you are on and smell the coffee yourself... You still haven't supplied any evidence to back up your claims that you understand this situation better than us, all you've done is bleat about ragheads, christians v muslims etc and resort to childish insults. Great debater you are.... Probably very dark under your bridge.....

I think the word debate should be dropped from this thread, once personal attacks come into the argument then it is no longer a debate.

That's interesting sonnetpete, because the article came from the Dailymail you accept it as the truth, whereas if it had come from a website such as Britain First without the word "Horrifying" you would have branded it as rubbish or just ignore it, as would Jackie, whereas littlemouse would not even reply because he wouldn't get my point.

I think you've missed my point pandj. That even the right wing Daily Mail couldn't somehow manage to put a different spin on it, as publishing photos and a video of the attempted sinking makes that rather difficult. That it was a horrifying act is incontravertable. I don't think that trying to sink an inflatable dinghy containing about 50 people is somehow less of an atrocity than getting a kalashnikov and shooting at them. 'Britain First' (whose website is sadly down at the moment) wouldn't have run the story unless they could have made it seem that the refugees were attempting to make an assault on the Greek boat. Perhaps the Greek sailor thought that? Perhaps he'd been persuaded that the boat contained jihadists armed to the teeth and wearing suicide vests. I'm sure littlemouse gets your point pandj, as do we all. Where we see refugees you see 'invaders'. Where we see families fleeing war you see potential terrorists and murderers. We can only agree to differ. As 'Britain First' cannot be accessed, here's a link to a Guardian article about them. www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/feb/25/truth-britain-first-facebook-far-right-bnp

Where we see refugees you see 'invaders'. Where we see families fleeing war you see potential terrorists and murderers. I don't want to get into a dog fight having read all the different positions on here. However, when I see videos of refugees on various different channels (not all white Caucasian) the majority are men around 18 years old and upwards. Not many families really even though some channels deliberately pick them out. Invariably there are crowds in the background of the shots who are totally men of the age group I've mentioned. There are genuine refugees agreed but if you don't also realise quite a few of the men and women in the background are potential terrorists it is ostrich time.
