Thing is Tinks, I don't know how we'd attract new members..Maybe we got some extra 'guests' when the 'dark side' had web site problems a few days ago but because (in the main) we aren't confrontational and don't usually have threads about registering your UK car or asking when supermarkets are open, 'guests' aren't inclined to turn into members.
Now, I'm not saying we should have threads like that. In fact it's the relaxed and friendly nature of this forum which is it's attraction, at least to me. Maybe now the nights are closing in and the weather is less pleasant we can reignite the 'game' threads and restart the quiz. Sad to say I'm not sure that will be enough to attract new members or defectors. I think people get turned off by the way some other forums are moderated and the manner of some replies and decide not to bother with forums at all.

I have not been going on here daily now as there don't seem to be new posts etc.I did do the Birthday bit but people couldn't be bothered to answer to them either. So I stopped simple. Plus it doesn't help if people say oh they have been tasked with a job, lets remember it supposed to be fun.As comments like them turn people off permanently from going on a forum.

Fair comment Sab. Perhaps 'defectors' was too strong a word. I was thinking of people who get disenchanted with the backbiting and arguments at the other place. I just wonder if we have enough discussions to attract them, though it's a fine line to tread where responses won't veer off into polemics.
I know what you mean about birthdays. The satellite forum I belong to has someone similarly tasked, but the moderators post their wishes as well (and very, very rarely do the birthday celebrants respond).

A lot of the birthdays mentioned were for members long gone. The system didn't distinguish between active and "dead" members. Active members generally responded well.No criticism of you intended Sab,you weren't to know.
