Blerrggg to stuffing guts back in ;D ;D Whay hey !! I've just filleted my first ever fish Was so easy !! Cut forward to the gills then drew the sharp knife back along the bones to the tail and off plopped a proper fillet !!! Made the 'smoker' (dead easy - used a deep metal tray with foil inside, the sugar, tea and rice on top, a grill and covered in foil) and fillets are smoking as we speak OMG ! Wonder if should take pic ......... Yus-- take piccies ok-- but position the mirror to show good reflections ok -- face book needs ya piccies xxxxxxx

Why on earth have I never done this before !! Lip smackingly delish Here's a series of pix. First one is of the 'smoker' which was a normal cooking tray thingy, lined with foil, then 100g dem sugar, 100g rice, 25g tea (from t bags) on top of the foil, onto the gas burner up high, smokin', the fillets of mackerel onto an oiled grid thingy (from the grill pan) and onto the smoke, covered in foil, turned off 'smoker' and let cook as is...... (Beware - causes lots of smoke ;D ;D ;D ;D) pic 1

Love Mackeral ... especially when it is smoked! Not sure about squids though, I'm allergic to most shell fish and fish that attracts a lot of Iodine (it's actually the iodine I'm allergic to, so would probably not try that recipe. .

Didn't understand the destructions but that looks very good Ali. Trying to remember if I've had smoked mackerel before - I think so, peppered - wot you can get at Super U in the fishy section along with the hummous and roll mops and smoked salmon?

Oh I've just read the destructions in the recipe Is that kale on your plate Ali and did you pick the caterpillars out first? ;D
