Ali said "the raw ones at the mo are a little under-fed......... "
It's actually because the "spare ribs", as eaten in Chinese restaurants etc, and with more meat on them, all go for export, at least they do from where I work - it's the one cut we can't buy as staff unless you buy whole or half pigs.

Not here, the ones in our Super U (St Aubin d'Aubigny) are the same as any I've bought or eaten anywhere as I said. Plenty of meat on them. But it's quite unusual to see them here so often, sometimes you only see them during 'bbq' season but we've seen them in winter there as well! I don't like chinese (restaurant) style spare ribs as they are really fatty - like mine barbied or however they do them in rack o' rib restos where the fat disappears! Will grant you the fact you can't buy a whole rack here like in those places but that's way too much food for me to eat anyway - especially with a baked spud covered in sour cream and chives and coleslaw on the side plus a disgustingly full of calories pud to follow! ;D Oh god I miss that kind of place.

I'm afraid we cheated tonight as Tescos had a full rack of ribs in a vacuum pack that was marinading in smoky BBQ sauce. 20 minutes in the oven and then 10 minutes on the BBQ, absolutely delicious. I'm going to take a few packs out to France.

I watched the Countrythingy Kitchen programme and enjoyed it - BUT - does Paul Heiney not have any other trousers than those pink ones I remember him wearing them in the normal Countrythingy programme and thought NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Hideous colour and not for middle aged men, or any men, or even women......
