My pentax dslr has pack in and the cost of the repair at 535€,sees me looking for a new camera. The question is which? hybride, full format etc etc.Its a long time since I bought a camera so any recommendations. As it will soon be christmas, I thought I would spend around 2000€.I will be looking for a good all round camera for landscapes, wildlife, a few portraits from time to time. The pentax lenses and filters will be going to my son who has a compatible camera.
Its a blanc canvas really.

Are you wanting Pentax again? The Canon 1200D offers video as well.

I have always had Pentax, but I haven't a preference really anymore, the problem I suppose is that there is too much choice.

I've had Nikons for years, oldy SLR type and the new DSLR (Nikon D40 at the mo) but I don't like it. If I was to buy again I'd be looking at Canons. I'm also tired of changing lenses but changing lenses does give a huge amount of scope. Video too would be great!

So much choice, LM. Really is such a subjective matter, look and feel etc.
You can still get some serious gear for €2000.
A couple of years ago I had a review of my cameras needs and what to buy next. I came to the conclusion that there was little point in buying another expensive DSLR..
From always owning a good SLR and DSLR as a main camera I found that I was using a hotch potch of kit depending where I was going, the weather, and how to carry the bits. The answer from my point of view was to run a few cameras and take as needed.
Plus losing or damaging one is not the end of the world.
Currently I run a Nikon D90 with lenses from 50, 55/85, 55/200. Heavy and cumbersome carrying two lenses. Take a monopod with me, and this also doubles as a walking pole. Excellent camera and done good service great for wild life.
Canon G15, almost as good as a dslr. Had two earlier G versions good service and part exed easily. Almost pocket sized Great in low light. For me the plus point is the view finder. Though I prefer a swing screen as my previous G12 had, saves lying on the ground to get those low up tight macro shots. Worth looking at the G range, though the Sony does just have the edge. Video great on the Canon too. Solid build all metal and glass.
Two pocket Olympus, one very old C50 with view finder, more modern F series with video. Like these for the XD card making it so simple to take landscape panoramic shots. Although I concede my iPhone is getting close to taking over from these two.
Add in a couple of WiFi enabled SD cards and this motley crew sorts out my needs. I am out in all weathers, walking and cycling so for me one size doesn't quite fit the bill.
Bet you could get some modern kit to cover lots of different usage for your €2000.
Good searching.

For 2000 Euro you can get some proper DSLR kit - don't bother with a bridge camera go for a DSLR with some lenses
Now there'll be a Canon / Nikon bun-fight LOL - But those two manufacturers are your best choices get along to a good camera shop and try some see what suits you best - then buy online where best deals are to be found
For me I'm a Canon fan - always was always will be
Best thing is go and try / look at a few and then come back - sure to be somewhere here with experience who can offer advice - at the moment your options are very wide

For 2000 euros I would also want someone to come with the camera to take the pictures. :-0
