Just out of interest, has anyone dowloaded windows 10 and used it sucessfully? what is your experience? I have a netbook on windows 7 and PC on windows 8.1 My netbook is very slow and refuses to update, my PC has had some serious crashes so I am not happy with either. Microsoft seem to me to use their customers as guinea pigs, releasing their programmes before proper testing hence the need for service packs to make the system stable so I am hesitant to try windows 10 till at least the first service pack has been released Any thoughts? in laymans terms please, I am not a techy

I do have a netbook running 8.1 but wouldn't upgrade to 10 because (a) I think it would be very slow and (b) I'm not sure about the data logging Microsoft use.

One problem I have with Windows 10 is that updates are compulsory, they cannot be turned off. After every update on my tower computer I lose my ethernet connection and it picks up the wireless connection instead which is much slower. Rebooting it several times convinces it to go back to normal! The actual booting up is much quicker but I have removed most of the bells and whistles such as Cortana.

Just finished upgrading laptop to win 10. I am still using Internet Explorer as I haven't yet figured out how to get Edge to start-up with my homepage, picky aint I So far everything seems OK and it is definitely faster to surf the net.

Am upgrading one of Lady S's laptops tomorrow to Windows 10. Wow it's free. Not looking forward to it.
Putting things in perspective from my point of view, I have upgraded one of my laptops, runs faster with many more useful features, easy peasy upgrade. This is the fifth free upgrade I have applied with no problems. The laptop is almost seven years old and has had a lot of use. It now runs El Capitan.
