Well I drove up from Santander to Ducey in January. All I did was stop at the toll booth , got out,as R/H drive car, and either handed the flunky the cash or put it in the machine, got back in and drove off Simps eeek :-)

When I last used one it even had a Union flag over a toll booth that was on the right side for a right hand drive UK car!

Thanks folks.
A couple of questions.
How much do they charge?
I understand not all booths can be used so which ones if paying cash.

Each bit of road is a different cost, you can use a well known search engine to find a site that you put your trip into and it tells you the cost. Also from the netty web:
I have never had any problem with paying tolls in France. The toll gates all have big clear signs showing whether they take cards, or cash, or payment to a human collector.
Enjoy your trip Dave

It cost us about 40euros from near Huelgoat to Paris in August. About 80 from here to Bergerac last year.

Driving all over France regularly as I do I have the little gizmo that is stuck inside my windscreen and which allows me to go through the lanes marked 'T' (telepayage) I then get a bill every month. Newer tolls especially on the Rennes to paris route have a lane where I don't even have to stop, pass through at 30kph.
The only tolls I have seen with the booth on the right for Uk cars are ones coming south from Calais, after that if you are solo in a Brit car you have to get out and pay - frustrates the following LHD car drivers who have to wait!!!
