Only just seen this thread. Agree with Wadie that they don't need much attention, except with climbers, up against a house wall, top growth will tend to be at, err, the top, with long naked stems below, so I'm inclined to hack some old stems by half, in winter or early spring, to provoke re-growth lower down, if a balanced subject is what you seek.
