Hello again, I joined this forum some time ago and received a very warm welcome. To recap, we have lived in Limousin for 10 years and are looking to move to Brittany. Today we accepted an offer on our house. I wondered if anyone would be interested in a chat about the pros and cons of the various areas. I know it is a personal opinion as we have been involved in the property market here, I just wondered if there was anyone on FB or Skype that would be prepared to give me 10 minutes of their time to give me their opinions, it is much easier than typing.
Also if anyone has a property in the region of 100,000 for sale, main criteria good ADSL link and room for 4 dogs please feel free to pm me. Looking forward to joining in more when I finally get there x

Depends what you want in life, long walks in the middle of no where, or cinema, shopping, etc...... Brittany is a big place each area varies a lot even the weather although it is well wet wet wet at the moment lol

Fingers crossed all goes through for you xx I'am glad you just think your living in the best part Ali, as Finisterre is the best part me thinks. Best way to find out if an area suits you is to rent for a while as we did.But we had loads of hols in the area as well.Been here 3 years and loving it.

Congratulations on your offer. The good thing is that there are loads of bargains in Brittany at the moment and you should get what you are looking for in the price range you are suggesting. We are in central Brittany - ideal for both coasts but it is quite quiet. If this area suits you or anywhere from here to the North coast I would recommend looking at Agence Arguenon website with offices in both Dinan (which is beautiful) and in Lamballe. I have had a lot of dealings with them and they are pretty good - the best in these parts in my opinion. Otherwise Legatt seems to be the other big on line agency and they cover a wider area. If there is anything you need to know specifically just ask or pm ( sorry I don't do f/b)

Hope all goes well with the sale & the move. We are in central Brittany too, and as others have said it really depends on what you want. We wanted to be in the countryside but near to a town with services so we live in a small hamlet down a little lane but only 4 - 5 minutes by car to the nearest town which has two supermarkets + Doctors & Dentist. The main road through Brittany is just at the end of the lane so access to the Ferry ports & Brest airport is good. We don't 'do' nightlife so it suits us. Walking and riding around here is brilliant, often we are out 2 or 3 hours without seeing another soul. Lots of lakes & forests to explore and when the mood takes us we head off to Lorient or Brest for a days serious shopping. Sorry, I don't do f/b either but am happy to answer any queries.

I guess I should add I have lived in central brittany and although the idea of cows for neighbours was good at first it soon wore off lol. I now live near the coast in a small "town" it is better. I have easy acess to doctors, dentist, nurses, small "supermarket", sports facilities and the options to do sports or excersise classes, also big supermarkets near, lots of shops more than one clothes shop lol, cinema, bars, nightlife, resturants of all types and a choice of vets. As I now see and talk to people my french has improved lots!!!!! I am one of the younger members on the group so also have teenagers and younger children so considering bus services or lack of also important and even here there isn't much of a service but in centeral brittany in some areas you have none or maybe 2/3 a day for the school children.

THanks everyone. We have lived in rural Limousin for 10 years so although I know Brittany is not Limousin I do think it means we have the idea that rural in France is RURAL! lol We are in contact with various agent commercials from Legget and also Agence Arguenon. This big task at the moment is finding a pet sitter so we can get up there and do some viewing. We work from home so good ADSL is a must but it looks like almost everywhere up there has better speed than we get here at the end of a long piece of string! What we both want is to be nearer to the sea, a good 3.5 hours for us at the moment, but still have access to lots of lovely countryside. I am just so excited, as we anticipated about 2 to 3 years and the house here has sold in 4 months (fingers crossed it now runs smoothly) We have not discounted Normandy , just trying to focus on an area and if we dont find what we want move on, we have not ruled out renting if nothing comes up either. You have raised a few points Em that strike a chord for us here too. The problem is we want it all... a nice quite walk in the country where we bump in to no one then a coffee shop appearing out of the mist packed and bustling, when it suits ! lol If it is any consolation the weather here is no much better, certainly the mildest winter since we got here but the dogs now need to wear snorkels and flippers when we go for a walk Thanks again everyone , I will let you know how we go on Wendy x
