We have tried various means of celebrating this event but I can honestly say I cannot ever remember having enjoyed it.I don't do well with crowds of people especially if I don't know them and if theyre drunk. This year just a quiet evening with a couple of friends.

We never have done the party thing on new year's eve ... but we do usually stay up until midnight and have a little drink of something, then bed. This year we have friends coming over on new year's day for the afternoon and an evening meal to celebrate. 9sorry for lack of caps etc, my shift button isn't working.....0

When my late wife was alive we always had my stepdaughter over for Xmas and New Year. We usually celebrated on our own, though my stepdaughter insisted we saw in both the French and English New Year. I think that was just an excuse to get champagne twice.....
Now I'm on my own, I'll stop up till midnight, have a drink of whisky and pop off to bed....never was one for parties....

I am going to my friends for a meal in the evening then I shall probably wander up into the village for a few beers. The bars are open all night so if I enjoy myself it may be late(or early) when I get home but it is very unpredictable. Some years it is very quiet in which case I may be home before midnight.

We tend to be on our own, and seem to usually have a very good time plenty of bubbly flowing and some silly dancing.

We shall be partying the year away - but just the two of us. We are not keen on spending this particular evening with others though in general we are very sociable. We have started drinking already, though 'Mr Elkay' did point out that we had 6 hours to go yet (at least!) when we poured the first. Happy and Healthy 2014 to you all

We are staying home this year despite a couple of invites, for which we are grateful. Just felt like being hermits We have had some outstanding and probably embarrassing parties in the past though, usually in fancy dress. Whatever everyone is doing, however you are celebrating, enjoy yourselves and here's to a happy and healthy 2014 to all xx
