A preposterous subject on this forum, I know....
I went to a rugby school. It was a class thing. At the time of George Best. Anyone saw him play against Benfica could not fail to love football....
Never got to grips with the stop/start of rugby. When I was a football referee (Class III Provisional!) I used to play advantage all the time, to keep the game moving...
Steve Gerrard is a god. Any Man-ure fans want to say otherwise? Rugby? Big thighs, posh accents, or just big men. So?

I have never been one for football, I just can't sit and watch a game. On the other hand, men with big thighs, posh accents and oval balls ...

dont tempt me the common saying is that " football is a game for gentlemen played by hooligans and rugby is a game for hooligans played by gentlemen" Ok sometimes the Rugby gents get a bit heated and take a swing at each other, but its usually sorted out on the pitch and all is fine over a beer in the bar. Horses for courses I suppose, I was never a massive fan of football but cant bear to watch it now as there's too much pratting around with nothing really happening, at least in Rugby you never know when its going to boil over or explode. last weekends 6 nations matches were fantastic , The Paddys beat the Taffs, england beat the Sweatys and the Frogs were beaten by the eyeties, with a Tiger legend scoring a try on the other forum that I read, football is known as " wendyball" cus most of the time players only have to be within 6" of each other and they fall over in agony, watch any rugby match to see a real tackle! Rugby players never want to go off, even when they are injured, hence the blood replacement ruling, they just love to play. and that passion is great to watch.

Rugby every time. Got three boys who all play rugby and love it-almost as much as Mum and Dad I think!!! Scottish Dad, Welsh Mum, the three all brought up here (last one born here) so very divided loyalties. Don't get the football mentality-I understand everyone has to earn a wage but that seems to come way before the passion for the game in football. I love that rugby players can be seriously battling it out on the pitch and then having a joke when they are walking off. Men who play on the same team can really play 'against' each other when playing for their national team and yet still be sportsmanlike when coming off!!
