We're off to neighbours to eat pork and lentils this evening. We are not the only 'non Bretons' in the village; there is a couple here from the Auvergne. Apparently it is a tradition there to share a meal of pork and lentils on New Year's day - the pork signifies that no one sharing the meal will go hungry and the lentils that each person will have enough money for the coming year. Each of us takes it in turn to cook the meal each New Year and, luckily, as the weather is so awful and stormy we only have to go next door!
Natuarally it all gets washed down with copious amounts of alcohol - so no one will be doing much here in our village tomorrow!

Did a lovely joint of lamb tonight too, just for the two of us. Fli went and got the mint from the garden (and for the first time he didn't pick nettles instead). It was a rolled joint from our local Carre4 contact store, no bone, slow roasted at 150 for about 3hrs, roast tatties, collyflower and (yes I know its wrong) yorkshire puds We're now on Chateauneuf du Pape

"Seafood" is a misnoma........ shellfish is NOT food!!!!! A very good food if you read about it.Full of protein and minerals and low in fat.Not everyone's choice but should be part of a healthy diet.

Eggs again last night and tonight (chorizo tortilla and salad) Tinks I think that BB ARE probably a luxury as it's easier to buy prawns in France! I just can't eat very much prawns/langoustine/crab claws as they are very rich, and can't eat the rest of the crab meat/whelks/oysters/anything resembling snot/snails/brown strong tasting meat at all.
